Nelson Admiral 2007

The Admiral is a blend of red grapes from our vineyard combined to produce a delightful easy drinking wine.

All Richmond Plains grapes are grown on our own vineyard. Both the growing of our grapes and winemaking are certified organic by BioGro New Zealand.

Nose: Fragrant cherry, blackberry and blackcurrent aromas.

Palate: Bursting with dark cherry, blackberry and blackcurrent fruit aromas and flavours with some spicy licorice notes.

Vegan: This wine is suitable for vegan diets.

Vintage: The grapes were hand harvested from free draining stony alluvial soils.

Wine Making:  The grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and then transferred to an open top fermenter.  Traditional hand plunging of the cap was carried out throughout the ferment. The grapes stayed for 15 days in the fermenter with a period of post ferment maceration to extract tannins from the skins. 

The wine was put through full malolactic fermentation in the spring and then blended, filtered and bottled in March 2008.

Sulphur:  This wine is made with minimal levels of sulphur/SO2/preservative 220.
